Who is Robin Bevan?
Psycho-Spiritual Mentor, Scholar, Mystic-Philosopher, and devoted torchbearer of Proto-Indo-European traditions.
My name is Robin Bevan, but people know me as Bassareus, the host of the Moment Podcast. Though there is much more to me than that. I am someone who had for the past 3 years done deep and extensive inner work. Which included for
me dream analysis, recurring dreams, and patterns, relational patterns, behaviour patterns, psychological complexes, and how this ties into both my current and past experiences. Including unresolved trauma, exploring repressed emotions,
deeply ingrained beliefs, unresolved psychological issues and deeper shadow aspects of the self. Making up a total of 1.131 A4 pages of analysis. Next to having done five shamanic soul retrieval journeys in those three years time.
There was a lot of emotional processing involved in my work as well. Next to dealing with conscious regression even at times, to tap into inner child states, and be there for myself during it. To let myself cry, and process emotions.
Next to the dismantling of various complexes.
Finding my way towards Wholeness
My Healing Journey
The Koryos rituals I did in the woods, next to the shamanic journeys and inner Jungian work played an important part in reclaiming my sense of self. The Koryos rituals I did alone in a more modernized version, and used these traditions as intended, to both cultivate assertiveness and connection to the land and nature, next to my instinctual foundation.
Cultivating Assertiveness
The Koryos rituals I practiced in the woods helped me reclaim my sense of self by cultivating assertiveness and connecting to nature. Using a shaman drum and a Bo staff, I confronted my fears. This practice transformed my repressed anger into assertiveness, allowing me to express emotions constructively and reclaim a sense of agency and autonomy.
Working with the Wolf
The wolf archetype symbolized the repressed instinctual aspects of myself. By tapping into this archetype, I transformed my relationship with my instincts, moving from a state of repressed anger to one of assertiveness. This shift empowered me to integrate anger and personal power, reclaiming a sense of agency and overcoming feelings of powerlessness.
Importance of Dreams
Dreams guided my entire process, serving as a map for addressing inner conflicts and guiding shamanic journeys. By consciously facing the contents of the unconscious through rituals based on dreams, I facilitated personal transformation. Trusting the wisdom of the unconscious allowed me to resolve deep-seated issues and harmonize conscious intention with the natural progression of dreams.
Working with the Anima
In a significant shamanic journey, I rescued my Anima from a cave, addressing a complex that repressed my emotions. This journey sparked a ten-month process of re-establishing my relationship with the Anima, leading to emotional expression and healing. As I processed pent-up emotions and explored Anima-related themes, the Anima guided me to deeper emotional and psychological healing.
When it comes to the psyche (meaning soul), much happens throughout our lives. Various things including small t, trauma can cause soul loss. Which occurs when parts of our essence, vitality, and life force become detached or repressed
as a result of these traumas.
Soul Loss
Part of this is can be from a modern lens be explained through the different psychological states that one can be trapped in. When we experience trauma, the intensity of the event can be overwhelming, and to protect ourselves, we may
disassociate or detach from these parts of us that were directly affected. These fragmented aspects of our soul retreat to a hidden realm, often referred to as the “Lower World” or the “Underworld,” seeking refuge from the pain and
distress.
Psychological complexes
Often these parts of us are guarded by spirits (both negative or protective) who ensure that this part stays away from our conscious awareness. From a Jungian lens this can be seen as complexes that exist within the personal unconscious.
A complex is a collection of thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and memories that focus on a single concept, influencing our behaviours and perceptions. The more elements attached to the complex, the greater its influence on the individual.
A complex is created for the purpose of ego defense.
Soul Retrieval
The process of soul retrieval, aims to restore the lost or fragmented aspects of our soul. By embarking on shamanic journeys. through altered states of consciousness induced by drumming, rattling, or trance-like states, we can connect with these hidden realms where the soul fragments reside. Guided by our spiritual allies and guides, we can navigate these realms to locate and retrieve the lost soul parts. Though the process of retrieval is far from a one time event. It is a process, that requires guidance and further support. Emotional processing is as much part of soul retrieval, which takes away the fuel of the psychological complex, where thus healing occurs. This is part of the integration process.
Reintegration
You can see these aspects within oneself as the different aspects within ones inner round table. These needing reintegration if necessary. Being tied to part of ones soul essence, and with it the totality of the Self. One important thing regarding this is to learn how to balance these different energies within ones Round Table. Find out, how they can support each other, and find the right combinations for the different parts of oneself to feel both safe, but also are allowed to be vulnerable and expressive. Some of these parts need to be rescued and nurtured.
